Living in Schertz, TX

Schertz sits on I-35 between San Antonio and New Braunfels, about 19 miles northeast of downtown San Antonio. It spans Guadalupe, Bexar and Comal counties, and it's grown into one of the larger cities in the San Antonio–New Braunfels area.

Getting around

I-35 runs through the north side of Schertz, with I-10 along its southern strip. New Braunfels is about 6 miles up I-35, and Randolph Air Force Base borders the city to the southwest.

Things to do

  • Pickrell Park, home to community events throughout the year
  • SchertzFest in September and the Fourth of July Jubilee
  • The Festival of Angels each December
  • New Braunfels and San Antonio, each a short drive for rivers, dining and shopping

Schools

Most of Schertz is served by Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD, with parts in East Central ISD and Comal ISD. I always confirm the school assignment for a specific address.

Homes and neighborhoods

You'll find established neighborhoods, newer subdivisions and new construction, with options at a range of price points. Because Schertz crosses three counties, I check the county, tax rate and any MUD or PID for every home we look at. I can also help you compare VA, FHA and conventional financing.

A little history

Schertz is named for the Schertz family, some of the first German immigrants in the area. The town was known as Cibolo Pit and then Cut Off before taking the Schertz name in 1899, and it incorporated in 1958.
